For Authors
**Please note: We are not yet reviwing articles for our 33.2 edition. We will be reviewing submissions on a rolling basis in April 2026.
Our mission
The Journal accepts a variety of written works. We are particularly interested in receiving submissions that explore how gender issues and related issues of race, class, sexual orientation, gender identity, and culture impact law and society. The Journal is committed to publishing marginalized and underrepresented perspectives that challenge traditional hegemonic models in legal scholarship. In keeping with this commitment, the Journal publishs the works of professors, legal scholars, social scientists, practitioners, students, and others - covering issues of international, domestic, international and foreign law.
Generally, we will review each article within a month after we receive it. However, if you would like us to expedite the reviewing process, please request expedited review via Scholastica (preferred), or contact us at mjgl-submissions@umich.edu with the title of your piece, the journal that has accepted it, and your requested deadline.
**Guidelines for Submissions **
Citations should generally conform to The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation. Our editors also request that you provide a curriculum vitae with your submission. A cover letter is not required, but is appreciated, and helps us review your article more efficiently. The Journal strongly prefers articles between 15,000 and 35,000 words, including footnotes.
We also accept submissions via email, at mjgl-submissions@umich.edu. For any other questions about article submissions, please contact us at that same email address.
